A small number of Kowanyama artists are successfully producing and selling artwork at present. Previously (in the 1980s) Kowanyama artists had been successful in supplying teaching collections to museums and Aboriginal organisations.
Products that Kowanyama artists may specialise in include:
- Painting on canvasses.
- Limited edition prints.
- Lino prints.
- Weaving – cabbage palm products such as dilly bags and pandanus woven products such as raffia bags, strip bags, coiled Pandanus mats, armbands and stringed aprons.
- Carved and other traditional pieces – spears, woomeras, firesticks, boomerangs, shields, fighting sticks, clap sticks, smoking pipes, digging and message sticks.
